RE: Workhorse Chassis motorhome brake failure?

My 05 W22 chassis has given me no problems at all. It is my opinion that a lot of the problems they have are operator or maint. problems and people that don't have problems don't write about it in these forums. You can't drive and maintain these units like your family car. (It's a big truck)

RE: Electric Awnings

Mine came with spring loaded struts that go between the lower arm and the upper strut to keep it locked out in a breeze. You should allways roll your awning up if you suspect high winds. I saw an RV get blown over when a gust of wind got under the awning.

RE: Need to purchase another set of TT keys. Please help.

The only place I could get keys for my 05 Dolphin was from the lock manufacture. I had to remove the lock and get the serial no. off the lock and they sent me four keys for 10$ including shipping.

RE: Bouncing Dash

On my 2000 Condor(Workhorse chassis)I removed the gauges and built a support between the steering column brace and the top of the dashboard and it eleminated almost all of the bounce.

RE: 1983 pursuit brake problem

Your brakes are locking up because the master cyl. is not returning all the way and it is not letting the fluid return to the master cyl. It could be that your pedal is not returning do to lack of lube or binding for some reason or the pedal adjustment rod is to long or the rod from the booster to the master cyl. is too long. Check to see if you can pull the pedal back up when this condition acures if so lube the linkage. GM chassis have a bellcrank that changes the direction of the lincage and in the past they didn't have a lube fitting and caused this problem. If this is the case you can drill and tap this shaft for a grease fitting. I hope this helps and happy camping.

RE: Tire woes

This out of round condition you are talking abought is normaly caused by worn shocks. This and low tire pressure will cause it to ware on the outside edges.

RE: Tow Dolly help. What kind should I buy?

Question on Brakes. First I need to tell you that I know I may be breaking the law so please do not scream at me. If I was to use this dolly on the back of my fifth wheel would I be using a seperate brake controller for the electric or the surge brakes? In other words would I have 2 brake controllers in my truck or can I just use the one? BrittIf you have surge brakes there is no controler and no you won't be braking the law unless you get over length.

RE: Chevy v Ford fuel consumption?

A freind of mine has a 36ft MH with a v10 and he tells me he gets 5-6 MPG but he drives at 70MPH most of the time. I have a 36ft. MH with the 8.1 chev. and get 8-9 MPG but I drive at 65MPH. My last MH was a 32ft. with 454 chev. and I got 8-9 MPG driving 70MPH. With the 454 if I drove 60 to 65 the trans would down shift on the slightest grade and run in passing gear till you got over the top. With the one I have now the allison trans holds the overdrive gear pretty good on slight grades. A lot of milage depends on how much your rig weighs and how fast you want to drive.

RE: Best way to park MH during hurricane?

The best place to park it would be in another state but if you can't do that try to put it close to a strong building on the north side. Good Luck.

RE: Where is Auto Park RGS?

The resevoir and pump are normaly on the inside of the frame behind the trans. This system is nice as long as it is working but like any thing else it's one more thing to go wrong. I had a 2000 model with auto park and put 30,000 miles on it with no problems.

RE: Air Horns not working

Post a Pic of the roof top horn. I believe you have Electric Horns NOT Air Horns. National used both and the Air was an option. When they installed the roof Electric, they did NOT use a dash switch, but did when they installed the optional Air horns. DougMine are electric and I thought they didnt work untill I stood outside and had someone blow the horn.

RE: Golf Cart Batteries - I'm Amazed

It is the (reserve capsity) you need so take that into consideration when buying batterys. At Sams Club I would get the higher capsity ones they are only a few dollars more.

RE: Air Barke S-Cam Roller Lubrication

I have worked on big OTR trucks for the last 30 years and I have only seen a problem with brake rollers a couple of times. The banging problem you discribe is normally cause by lack of lube on the shaft. The shaft hanges up and when it gets enough pressure it comes loose and bangs when the brakes hit the drums. A lot of the OTR trailers you see on the road don't have backing plates on them and are exposed to the wheather and don't have any roller problems. I go along with toolttime and keep oil and lube away from brake shoes.

RE: Roof

It's not that hard just time consuming. Use a plastic scraper to remove the old not a metal one. Brake parts cleaner and a rag does a good job for final cleaning and it evaporates fast. Use the good self leveling caulk and use enough. If you can find a big shade tree it helps.
